16 Jul Lessons on Youth Speed and Strength Training: Appearance on the Treatment Room Podcast
This was similar to a Joe Rogan podcast.
I was given over 90 minutes to do a deep dive on youth speed and strength training, and how we can change the paradigm on youth athletic development.
Less specialization, and more fun, play, and performance training to build well-rounded athletes. Kids aren’t mini adults. Stop training them like pros. Get out of the year-round grind. Get them strong. Build general athleticism. Study the literature on child development from a physical and cognitive standpoint.
In this episode, you’ll also hear about my childhood and the trajectory of my soccer career to becoming a 3x college All-American, 4x MVP, record breaking goal scorer, and National Player of the Year at Johns Hopkins University.
Hint: I did ballet and lacrosse, played rec soccer until age 12, and started strength training in middle school. ;-O
