08 Nov Podcast Discussion On In-Season Strength Training, Recovery, and Monitoring
In-season strength training is like Walmart: get your crap, and get out.
The good news is, it does not have to be long or complicated.
Look, I understand the youth soccer season is hectic and overwhelming. The duress of the schedule leaves kids and parents wondering when they will have the time to strength train, do their recovery workouts and stay healthy.
Recently, performance coach Julia Eyre and I did a quick discussion on how to train during the season, and how easy it is to sprinkle your workouts into your schedule.
Spoiler: they do not need to be longer than 40 minutes.
We discuss what strength movements go into an in-season plan, what set and reps schemes we like the most during this time, and how we monitor load and fatigue with two-game-a-week schedules.
