20 Mar Mental Prevailing During Pandemic Panic
Welcome to my blog.
The one thing that won’t get cancelled amidst this pandemic.
While your flight to that destination wedding is cancelled, or your local pub is closed, or your sports season is postponed, my blog is here to stay.
Yes, allow me to provide you some solace: my prose ain’t going anywhere.
In fact, I’m filled with more creativity than ever before and excited to provide you with content that will help you laugh, smile, and learn during this time. Buckle up because hundreds of articles await on the horizon.
Through my words, I’m happy to help everyone become yes, physically stronger, but also mentally stronger.
So with that said, how do we rise above the noise?
How do we prevent ourselves from falling into an abyss of panic and nervous system stress?
How do we prevail during the pandemic?
Let’s get to it.
Purpose Matters
The other day, I posted this:
Your purpose could be as simple as existing.
Your purpose could be playing an instrument.
Your purpose could be having epic conversations with friends.
Your purpose could be making your family smile.
Your purpose could be writing.
Your purpose could be serving others.
Your purpose could be break dancing on a turf field.
You see, purpose does not have to be this grandiose thing like saving humanity, or selling a juice cleanse for $79.99 a month.
Yes, impacting many would be nice, but making just one person smile a day is a tremendously magical start.
Put simply, your purpose could be as simple as being who you are.
That’s it.
Can you sit in your room in silence? Can you be still? Can you accept your existence as enough?
Moving on…
Connecting with others, too, is what we need during this time. Our family, our friends, our long distance colleagues…
ANYONE.
Let this serve as a reminder for all of us to exit the matrix and connect with people once again.
In fact, in the past week, I’ve heard of more people hosting virtual happy hours and get togethers and dinners than ever before.
People are spending more time together now (virtually) than they were last month in person.
To that end, I think humans are onto something.
Speaking of connection, now couldn’t be a better time to connect to yourself.
Yeah, you.
With your thoughts.
Your emotions.
Your fears.
Of course, it can be uncomfortable to sit with yourself without the distractions of Netiflix, Tik Tok or Instagram, but it’s so needed to find out who you are for once in your life.
What are your strengths?
What are your gifts?
What are your values?
What do you bring to the world?
Have you ever thought about any of these, anyway?
I think not.
So this bears repeating: now is the time to figure out who you are. Mental prevailing during the pandemic is going to be hard. It’s not going to be as easy as listening to a good vibes podcast, and then eating your frozen pizza and going to bed happy.
It’s going to take daily training to affirm who you are, your strengths, your gifts, your talents.
And it’s going to take re-connecting with people and serving others as much as you serve yourself.
Yes, your health is a priority now, but looking to the bigger picture, so is everyone else’s.
