Improving Confidence In Female Athletes Comes From Challenge

It’s time to get uncomfortable.

No, really, it is.

No amount of positive self talk will build confidence. Sure, this is a useful tool at times, confidence is birthed from getting out of your comfort zone.

This past week, I had some massive revelations:

1. Snowboarding is downright dangerous.
2. I almost fell off a cliff.
3. Kidding…I came close, but was confident and competent enough in my skills to thrive at 8,000 feet high.


In order to have confidence, you have to build up your competence first. There was no way I was going to do the highest trail six years ago when I learned snowboarding. I had to learn to control my speed, maneuver, and turn properly in order to earn the tough trails.

Once my competence soared, I was able to put myself in a tougher environment to build my confidence.
