19 May Exercise for Confidence: Soccer Ball Eccentric Hamstring Drill
Everyone lost their shit over this exercise.
It was as sensational as the Royal Wedding.
Here it is:
I think what grabbed everyone’s attention about this was its simplicity.
Eccentric hamstring work is critical for soccer players, especially in terms of preventing injury and helping to stabilize the knee when decelerating and changing direction quickly.
This is a great alternative to the Nordic Hamstring Curl:
…which is an exercise, more often than not, that needs some sort of contraption or human being to help out.
By all means, if you have a partner willing to stare at your booty, then do this movement. It’s stellar.
But I’d argue the above ball exercise is great for not only eccentric hamstring strength, but also hip extension and glute tension. And easily can be done on the pitch.
